The first grade students used transitional words (First, Next, Then, and Last) to write the steps in a process to making a root beer float. The students learned how important it is to include details while they write. After the students completed the writing part of this activity, we then tested their steps to see if we could make a root beer float based on their writing. We had a great time with this writing prompt.
