To help encourage appropriate classroom behavior and a positive attitude, I have started a new behavior system with the students. Each student is given $1.00 in play money on Monday morning. The objective for the students is to keep all of their money in their behavior bank till the end of the week (Friday). The students are able to buy an item from the classroom store with the money that they have saved throughout the week. Students do have to play me for certain behaviors or actions. Inappropriate behaviors and actions costs certain amounts of money. I do reward students for extra special actions, such as going out of their way to help a classmate. I do not reward students for behaviors that are expected of them each day, such as completing assignments or writing their name on their paper. The students are very excited about earning extra money. This is a great way to reinforce the concept of money and how to count groups of coins. Be sure to ask your child if they had to deposit any money in to Mrs. Buckley's bank or if they earned extra money for the day.
