BURST Reading Program

First Grade Parent(s):

Keystone Elementary School has adopted two new reading intervention programs, both programs will be implemented beginning Monday, October 18th. Your child may or may not receive both intervention programs during their instructional day. Your child's BURST teacher will either be myself or one of the other first grade teachers. BURST Reading groups are created using a flexible grouping method which is dependent upon the needs of the students.

The BURST Reading Program allows teachers to provide small-group support to the students with reading needs. Unique in its approach, BURST Reading drills down to specific student needs and has the flexibility to change as students learn and their ability grows. This intervention method saves time and aligns instructional materials with real-time student needs.

Dependent upon your child's progress monitoring scores, your child may continue to receive reading support or their spot may be reserved for another student that requires reading support.

If you have any questions regarding either of the mentioned reading programs, please contact me. If I am not able to address all of your questions or concerns, you may contact Mrs. Heath, our Reading Coordinator. If your child receives BURST Reading instruction from one of the other first grade teachers, please let them know of your questions and concerns.
