Dear First Grade Parent(s),
I would like to take a moment and explain why your child had four substitute teachers this past week. I really dislike being out of the classroom and away from the students, I feel it is so important this early in the school year to establish a solid routine. I am sure your child told you that I was sick for a few days and then I was out for a special team meeting. I was so excited to be back on Thursday and get back into our routine. I then received a phone call on Friday afternoon that my daughter had an accident at school...after a brief visit to the ER and a strawberry milkshake from Dairy Queen...she is fine.
I know there was inconsistency with our schedule and procedures in the classroom this week. I hope that you found your child's first chapter math test in their folder on Friday evening. Please know that when I returned on Thursday I gave the chapter math test. I felt it was crucial that the students learn test taking strategies with me instead of the substitute teacher. We will follow the same format when taking math tests in the classroom. The students will always take a practice test with me and then complete a practice test for homework...the following day the graded test will be administered.
I will try to make sure that the weeks to come will be drama-free with the Buckley Family. :)
